Stay lean and mean this winter!
The best thing about a day out walking is the guilt free indulgence at the end. But how do you know how many pints you can knock back in the bar afterwards or how many bites of a Mars bar you have earned?
Experts from Brighton University have calculated the calories that you will burn on a typical 10 mile Intermediate Walk involving a few steady hill climbs.
So if a Mars bar contains 294 kcal a 80kg (12st 8llbs) walker could eat 4 (if 100kg 15st 10lbs 1585 you wanted to work, rest and play all at the same time) or drink 6 and a half pints of Guinness (at 170 kcal) just as long as you are not driving home. This is on top of 1,940 kcal for women and 2,550 for men.
Best get another round in then? Always drink sensibly!
